New Planned Features

Our original plan has to release a beta version of Park Circa that people could test and give feedback about. So what we've released is very basic, just enough to spark people's imagination and be useful on a daily basis. But we have a lot of features that we haven't finished implementing yet, which we think you'll appreciate. If you are curious what some of those features are, check out our Scheduled Updates page to learn more.

Bring More Customers to Your Business

If it was easier to come to your business, more people would. But parking is sometimes a hindrance. Park Circa can help your business get more customers by making it easier to find parking near by. We have posters that you can display in your window and two different postcards (for Parking Space Owners and Drivers) that you can hand out to patrons that tell them about neighborhood parking. Before we start recruiting drivers, we need to get some Owners to share their parking spaces. So if you are a Driver that wants to park easier or a ...

City Traffic Reduction Policies and Park Circa

We built Park Circa because we wanted to use an App like this ourselves, and now we know that others feel the same way. But Park Circa is not really about cars or parking, it's about people. It's about finding ways to make the city more livable, making this a better more enjoyable place to live. If Park Circa can help people get through their day with a little less stress and frustration then we'll be happy. We support the work of organizations like Livable City and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition because we actually believe that life ...

New FAQs About Legality and Burglers

We've added some new FAQs to address concerns that have been raised regarding Legal Parking Guidelines as well as the potential misuse of the data for Burglars to to know when you aren't at home (Park Circa may actually make your home safer). In response to some of the legal concerns we are working to educate Parking Space Owners and Drivers about what the current law says, and how to avoid nasty tickets. The last thing we want to see happen is for people to use Park Circa and then get a ticket because someone advertised a space that enabled ...

Great Initial Response from Everyone

So I tweeted a few people on Tuesday, and happily the idea started to spread rapidly. We've been trying to keep up with all the feedback, questions, concerns, and ideas. And we're really grateul for the excitement that people have shown toward the idea. Some have offered to help us code the app for other platforms, some have offered us their experienced Marketing advice, and others have offered to share their city startup experience and help us navigate politics and potential pitfalls. You spend a lot of time thinking about an idea, and you ...

Neighborhood Feedback

We went out to the Haight, Cole Valley, and 9th/Irving neighborhoods to hand out flyers and talk to neighbors about the concept of Park Circa, in order to get some feedback. We were pleased at the positive response we received to the idea, a few people even told us, "I totally thought of this idea last year, I'm so glad someone's doing it!" We received a lot of good ideas from everyone for how to make things even better (most of which were already on our list in one form or another, but the feedback helped us prioritize). Below are a few of ...

Park Circa is Officially Live!

The Terms of Service have been completed and we are now ready for business. We will begin official beta testing in a few neighborhoods in San Francisco: Inner Sunset (9th/Irving), Cole Valley, Haight, and North Beach. We encourage participation from other neighborhoods as well, but our limited budget and time will have us focusing on building some inventory in select neighborhoods first (unless you take the idea and promote it on your own!). So let's get the word out. We need beta testers to list their space and drivers to use the service, ...

iPhone App Approved

Apple approved our iPhone App last night in under 3 days! So of course we did a search for "Park Circa" and there it was, for all the world to see. We promptly downloaded it and gloated over our work. Now, we know it's a pretty simple app, but it's a real milestone. It represents a lot of work that we have put in for the past year brainstorming, planning, mapping functionality, looking for investors to fund development, deciding to just do it ourselves in our spare time, coding after work, at nights and on weekends, for months on end. And ...
