Get Free Parking in San Francisco!

In an ongoing effort to recruit Parking Space Owners, we're announcing a promotion for Free Parking for the first 500 members to share a parking space in San Francisco before St. Patrick's Day (March 17). We hope that the incentive to be neighborhood heros, as well as make some money on an unused driveway, would be enough to motivate people. But we need to get the word out and nothing gets people's attention like free parking. Spread the word!

Translating Excitement into Action

We know that you are interested in the idea of sharing urban resources, and in particular you are excited to think that parking may become a little easier in the city. But we need a lot more people to share their parking space, in order for there to be enough inventory around the city to make this work. We know this will take time for the word to spread and for this to become acceptable practice. But we also know that once people know about Park Circa, excitement doesn't necessarily lead to immediate action. So the question is, why aren't ...

Status Update February 2011

So it's time for an update on what we've been up to for the past two weeks. We've spent a lot of time looking and applying for other Merchant Accounts that will work with our business model. It's not an unusual model, but only some banks will take on the risk of a brokerage service, e.g. Groupon, Travelocity, etc. There are a few pending applications that look like they'll come through, so hopefully that will be finished soon and we can begin accepting credit card payments again. We've been working on the Android and Windows apps, as ...

Adding Credit to Your Account

We just encountered a minor problem involving credit card processing today. Our beta service may encounter other obstacles in the coming months, but we are committed to resolving this problem, and any others that may arise, as quickly as possible so that you can add credit automatically online. But in the meantime, if you need to add credit to your account, we can process your credit manually via alternative payment methods, e.g. Check, PayPal, Direct Deposit. Just contact us and we'll make sure you can add credit without delay. The good ...

Park Circa Is Ready for Use in Every Timezone

Hurray! Timezone support is working internationally where ever you registered. So now someone in Boston can list and find spaces locally (EST). However, if a Boston user travels to San Francisco for the weekend, their account is still in Boston time and the "availability" will be based on the timezone of the account (EST), so they may be confused why spaces aren't showing up for them. To overcome the "Traveling Timezone" issue, a user can easily update their account info and select the new timezone they are temporarily in (PST). When they ...

Parking Map Now Public

Many people have told us they wished we would let them see the Parking Spaces that are available in their neighborhood, without requiring an account. We didn't want to make the details of the space available to the general public (minor privacy concerns) and we also didn't want people to be disappointed when they didn't see tons of spaces right away (we just launched and word is still spreading). But since we've got 15 spaces in San Francisco right now (and others scattered about elsewhere) at least now the map isn't completely blank. We'll ...

Should We Require Registration Before Showing the Spaces?

We've gotten some helpful feedback from a few people who have asked that we not require registration just to see the available parking spaces, because they want to see if there are any nearby spaces before they decide the app is worth it. We totally understand this desire, and we debated this internally as well. We are still talking about it, so we may yet change that, but there a couple things to consider and in the end we'd like more feedback from our users. Account Required to Use App. The app can't be accessed unless you have an ...
